About Fitting sliding chin riding halters

Fit with the sliding chin riding halters is very important. You must make sure the halter is fitted up high on the nose to avoid constricting the nostrils in any way.

Wiggle it up high on the noseband, place the browband [if fitted] over the ears then fix it up nice and firm. Ensure the gullet strap is well up into the gullet so the cheekstrap runs as far back or behind the cheek as possible. The poll strap and browband will slide over to allow you to get it up high.

Picture A is an example of a well fitted sliding chin riding halter with the exess tail tucked neatly so it doesnt flick the horse in the eye..

Check the chinstrap. It should not be loose. This can make it unbalanced as one side of the chinstrap could hang out further than the other and not allow the best release of pressure.. Ideal is about 1cm sticking out each side.
