Ropes and colours
Here at Earthhorse Equipment we use two main types of rope, Marine rope and Equestrian rope.
There is a couple of minor differences between the ropes.
Marine rope is slightly denser as the core is a little thicker. The leadrope and rein width marine rope is great for training leads or reins that you want a little more solid. The halter width marine rope is a dense 6mm so slightly thinner and stiffer than the equestrian rope for halters. It is best for inset halters as the denseness makes it better for handstitching. I also prefer to do beading on marine rope where possible. Marine rope has a more limited colour range. Marine ropes will be marked with an [M]. Marine rope colours are pictured below.
Colours top-bottom are white, dark brown/beige zig zag [leadrope only],dark brown, black, yellow, kelly/light green, hunter green, purple, red, cyan blue, black/blue fleck, black/red fleck.
Marine rope halter base colours are below top-bottom, Cyan blue, purple, red, yellow, kelly/light green, dark brown, black. There is also white, black/blue fleck and black/red fleck available.
Equestrian rope is slightly softer and has a little less core so is "Squishier".
The rein and leadrope width equestrian rope makes lovely plaited reins and leads great for ladies and kids hands. The rope is lighter which is better for use with sliding chin riding halters. The halter width equestrian rope is 6.35mm thick so slightly thicker than the marine rope and therefore softer.It will swell to approx 7.5mm once worn in. All plaited reins are made from equestrian rope and it it the base for most of the riding halters. Equestrian rope colours can be used as insets and padding on marine rope halters and vise versa.
Some colours are only available in equestrian rope. Equestrian ropes will be marked with an E.
Neutral colours are popular for western and classic looks and i have a large range of neutrals to match back with tack or saddle pads.
We also have a growing range of stunning western patterned mixed coloured equestrian rope as below. My aim is not to overdo the colour, just beautiful patterns with colour pops!
'Arizona Sky" a blend of beige, light brown, dark burgundy and turquoise. Looks amazing on any of these colours. Available in halter/reins and padding/leads and insets.

"Sundance" a light pretty western blend of beige light brown pink and purple, looks lovely over light brown, dark brown, pink or purple. Available in halter, leads, reins, padding and insets.
